How They Know
By Rhetor
It is a dinner of recognitions.
Elizabeth Potter looks across the table at Peter Evans’ crow’s feet, remembering the glint in Ned’s eye that made her melt.
Sneaking a glance at Edward Potter’s elegant hands cutting his chop, Flora recalls the first time Peter held hers.
Peter can’t help noticing how shyly Lizzie dips her silver head, the way Flora always did, when she’s pleased.
And Ned recognizes Flora’s extra flip of the butter knife as something that always endeared young Lizzie to him.
James and Lily watch the little glances and the little grins and cannot figure it out.

  • Aw, that's so sweet. Thank you!
  • Oh, that's so wonderful. No, James and Lily probably wouldn't be able to figure it out. They're too young, but they would've gotten there if they'd lived long enough.

    • Oh that was so sweet! You don't need drabbles. You say so much with so few words.
      • Aw thanks. Love the Hebrew userpic, by the way; did you design it yourself?
        • No. Wish I did. I have my name in Hebrew I drew which I keep on our bedroom door, but I messed up the scanning of the photo...too big for an icon.

This I found on a Hebrew website. The entire site was in Hebrew. I had a little trouble scaling it down, but it worked.
    • Thanks, Berte. I agree.
