Bonnie Growed Up

I've just seen the HBP trailer, and I don't think it's a spoiler to say that it includes a brief shot of Ginny with her wand.

The first time I saw it -- I swear I'm not making this up -- my first thought was, "My goodness, Charlotte Rampling's looking awfully well-preserved!"

Bonnie's all growed up.

  • :-D

It's nice that they're no longer going out of their way to look like a little girl; she's a lovely young woman.

I'm trying to think of a moment when she'd be in her nightgown yet be disarmed. Hmmmm.

This trailer really has me excited about the film—the boy who plays young Tom was just terrific, and I love how Michael Gambon seems to be softening Dumbledore.
  • I'm confused about that nightgown disarmed wand. It goes by so fast, I have no idea what she's doing. If I hadn't read she was being disarmed, I would never have thought that.

btw: I know you did some acting. Did you ever get to the point of doing "head shots?"

Only little thing I found out about professional actors. The picture has to be in black and white. Their agency distributes them around.

Did you know Bonnie sings and dances? Thats what her agency claims.
    • Well, most young actors take as many "skills" lessons as they can—the more you can do, the more likely you are to be hired (or rather, the less likely you are to be dumped in the "do not see" pile before you've even gotten the chance to audition).

Headshots... are the business cards of actors. An essential, annoying part of doing business. Typically, they are distributed with a copy of your resume on the back. When I was acting they were always black and white, and always a so-called head-and-shoulders shot. In the past decade, as desktop printing has become much more affordable and high quality, you see more color shots. Also, the tendency has been to go with "three-quarter" shots that include the body. (This is especially common in tv and film.)

The moment when she's disarmed... Yeah. I have no idea what that's about. But I want to find out! Maybe she's about to tie Harry's shoelace with magic? ;-)
    • Oh! I can fill you in on that one.

Apparently, there's been a new scene added to the movie. It includes that scene with Bonnie, and also the one of Harry running through the reeds. If you want more details, I'm happy to provide them--but I don't want to spoil it for you either. David Barron gave an interview a while ago that explained it and why it mattered to add it. There are no real spoilers in it, just an explanation.

      Here's the url to it:

And in case you're even more curious, this new portion of script has leaked as well. I'm not going to post the link it here, but if you want it, send me a note through LJ and I'll forward you the url for the script as well. :-)
    • I still have my old headshots. Yuck.
      • :-)

I had five or six different shots over the years. I hated most of them.

(My last headshot is the image I use for my personal LJ.)
  • I need to see this again -- only saw it small on the iPhone and missed a lot. But -- YES about Gambon! I almost thought it was not him. He was... you know... Dumbledore-like!
  • From what little I saw, it looks like the character drama is well-played too.
